TORONTO, ON – [December 9, 2025] – The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), Canada’s leading independent authority on responsible gambling, has announced a new partnership with the Ottawa Senators hockey organization to increase awareness of safer gambling practices among hockey fans across the Ottawa region.
The agreement will see RGC’s prevention messaging featured during Ottawa Senators games through in-arena activations and digital signage at the Canadian Tire Centre, and a social media engagement and contest reaching fans across Ontario and Quebec.
“Sports and sports betting are increasingly connected in today’s entertainment landscape,” said Sarah McCarthy, RGC Chief Executive Officer. “This partnership allows us to reach people when they’re getting in the game with their team, in those moments when emotions are running high, and provide them with practical information about how to keep gambling safe and enjoyable.”
The collaboration reflects RGC’s 360° approach to preventing gambling harm by working with all stakeholders, including sports organizations, to ensure people have access to prevention resources when and where they need them.
Through this partnership, RGC will sponsor the “Great Saves” in-game feature at select home games, provide content through Ottawa Senators social media channels, and run promotional contests designed to engage fans with responsible gambling information.
“The Ottawa Senators organization is excited to partner with the Responsible Gambling Council,” said Martin Ballard, VP of Corporate Partnerships. “This collaboration supports our commitment to fan wellbeing and aligns with our core values and beliefs.”
The partnership runs potentially through June 2027, with RGC retaining the option to extend beyond the initial term.
RGC’s work is grounded in evidence-based research and emphasizes prevention education, helping people understand gambling’s risks, how to manage them, and where to access support. The organization works with regulators, operators, treatment providers, community agencies, and families to reduce gambling-related harm across Canada and internationally.
